What is GS1 QR Code?
GS1 QR Code is the GS1-defined use of QR Code with FNC1 mode and GS1 element-string syntax. It should not be confused with a normal QR Code that simply contains a web URL or with QR Code carrying a GS1 Digital Link URI.
GS1 QR Code vs ordinary QR
Ordinary QR Code can encode general text or URLs. GS1 QR Code uses a GS1-specific mode so the payload follows GS1 element-string rules.
GS1 QR Code vs Digital Link QR
A QR Code carrying a GS1 Digital Link URI encodes a web-compatible URI. GS1 QR Code traditionally refers to FNC1/GS1 element-string encoding. The concepts should be described separately.
Implementation note
Use GS1 QR Code only where the applicable GS1 application standard permits it, and verify current GS1 General Specifications for data, size and placement requirements.
Practical implementation advice
Barcode artwork that looks correct on screen can still fail after printing. Preserve quiet zones, avoid non-uniform scaling, choose an appropriate X-dimension or module size, and test the final printed symbol with the scanners and software used in the real workflow.
